WHAT ARE DENTURES?

A denture is a removable appliance that can be used to replace missing or damaged teeth in the mouth and is typically constructed of acrylic, metal, or a combination of both.

There are three different denture options:

-    A partial denture which is used to replace one or a few missing teeth.
-    A full denture which is used to replace a full arch of missing teeth.
-    An immediate denture which is used to replace teeth immediately after they have been extracted.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE FOR DENTURES?

It often takes time to get used to a new set of dentures. The adaptation period varies on the wearers previous experience and age. During this period sore spots may arise, whilst speech and eating may be affected.

Denture hygiene and care is equally as important as caring for your natural teeth to prevent future problems with your dental health. Your dentist at Eastgate Dental in Bristol will be able to give you advice on how to clean and care for your dentures.
